OK I know this doesn't look like much, but these are the toes of my new sock project.  I'm taking a knitting class to learn how to knit socks, and I have started over probably 20 times.  I hope one of these days these will actually be socks, but the jury is still out of this.  I'm really looking forward to class being over so I have time to complete this task.  Well thanks for reading,

Not much this week

Went to my daughters veterans program tonight.  She was so excited because she had a speaking part.  She did a great job.  Her Nanny and I gave her flowers, and she shared them with her friends, I was so proud of her.  That's all for this week,

Well hello once again, I'm such a crazy woman that I am taking a adult education class to learn how to knit socks.  I'm really wondering when I will find the time, but I've been wanting to learn, so I needed to take this class when it was available.  I watched this video and think, maybe I can learn this.  Well that is all I have for you this week, take care see ya next week.

Taking a few days for me

Well not to much going on this week but I'm looking forward to this weekend.  I'm taking a quick trip with a friend to Lake Gaston to just hang out.  For Mother's a do nothing few days, is like a lifeline.  I would have to make anything to eat for anyone, and I'm happy eating cereal.  I will only have to worry about myself for a few days.  I'm going to knit because it is way to much trouble to take my sewing machine.  I'm going to watch girly movies and eat junk and drink wine.  Wow it sounds like paradise.  See ya next week, I'll be recharged I hope.  The photos are of a few quilts I've made.

30 year class reunion

Ok this past weekend, I went to my hometown to celebrate with all my friends from highschool.  Wow I can't believe how old I am.  It doesn't seem like 30 years ago, I graduated from high school.  And by the way, a complete added insult,  I'm back in college 30 years later.  Oh well this is life, you never know where it's going to take you.  I had a great time seeing all my friends that I haven't seen for years.  Here are some photos of this special night.

Seems like it never ends

OK now there are three layers to my quilt, the quilt part, the basting (middle part) and the backing (the bottom part).  I have to rotary cut to make them all even, to be able to put on the binding (the outside part).  This takes a rotary cutter, a plastic cutting ruler and a mat so you don't cut into the floor.  I have to take them all upstairs in the bonus room and lay them out to cut.  After that I just use embroidery thread and tie knots in the middle of the blocks to keep the quilt together. This is the poor man's way to keep the pieces together, to have it quilted by a machine is expensive.    I also have the help of my one of my cats, they just love when I put something they shouldn't get on, in the floor. Until next time,

Ok now what do I do

Ok now I have added another border on this quilt and it is so big that it fits both of my daughter's beds.  Now here is the question, what do I do now?  My oldest daughter wants her room painted light blue, that would go beautifully with this quilt, but I'm not sure I have time to make another quilt before Christmas.  If I give the oldest one this quilt I will be obligated to make the younger one a quilt for her bed.  If not there will be mutiny in the Drummond house.  But I'm not sure if I can take that on with school and work in that time frame.  What to do !!! By the way the border is a prettier blue than it looks on this photo.  The saga continues .........

Sep 20, 2012

Today is September 20, 2012 and in two days I will be celebrating my 13th wedding aniversery.  I hope we can do something special just the two of us, but we will see.  I've been working a bit on my quilt and I finally got the strips of blocks all together.  It is so awesome when you finally see your puzzle unfold.  I went to the store and took the quilt to buy the borders for the quilt, this is not an easy task because there are sooo many colors in this quilt.  This is the edging that goes around the whole quilt, it also helps to add size to your quilt.  Well, once again I got carried away and now I will have to buy another bag of batting, it is the middle layer of a quilt, I bought twin batting and now need a queen batting.   My quilts just tend to get bigger and bigger.  Here are some photos of the progress I've made this week.

Ok so I've been very busy with work and school to get working on my quilt, but here are some photos of what is going on now.  Also here are a few photos of my foster kittens, they are really fun now.  Not much interesting going on with my world, maybe something more fun next week.  Hope so.

OK here I go this is my very first post on a blog.  I am doing this for a class assignment, and if you know me at all, I can talk my head off but putting my thoughts in type is very difficult for me.  My blog will be about crafts, animals or things that interest me.  Above is a quilt I'm working on that a good friend shared with me.  It is sort of a puzzle quilt, where you cut out specific sizes and piece together.  The photo is of all kinds of squares and rectangles on the floor.  I have a very busy life, so crafting is a way to give back to myself, so I can give to others.  I am a wife, mother of two beautiful daughters, student, brand new nurse and foster Mom to 5 kittens right now.  So my plate is full.  Well I'll write later with little more on the progress of the quilt or just things that make me happy.  Thanks for reading.
